Want an Ice Cold iBeer?

On June 7, 2011, in iphone App, by Jason Bax

Ever wanted to drink beer without really drinking beer? No?

Well, according to the success of iPhone app iBeer … you may be alone.

It’s an iphone app for a simulated beer drinking experience.

What is The iBeer App?

A life like representation of a glass of fine beer, iBeer is an app for anyone who drinks either socially or on a regular basis. By tipping the iphone towards you, you can simulate the effect of draining a glass of beer into your mouth.

The newest version includes more drinks: champagne, wines, water, cola, milk etc. Real condensation. Talks to iPad’s iBeer Keg via WIFI communication and bluetooth. And includes celebrity voice impersonations. All for $0.99.

But Why?

I’m really not sure. It’s either for people who like the action of drinking without all the calories or side effects OR entertainment for people who are already drunk. Either way, it’s a major hit.

iBeer Highlights:

  • $0.99 per download
  • Only permanent app in the Top 20 in the Apple App Store.
  • 907,692 downloads
  • Revenue at last check was $1,806,307 ( source below)

I get the feeling that this app was inspired by the drinking of real beer.

I can’t really understand why will people buy this product.
Why will they pretend to dring beer instead of drinking beer?
That is a funny app, but not practical at all.

What i really love about this app is that they took it to the next step.
I mean that first they just had beer, but then they added more drinks like champagne, wines, water, cola, milk . they really took their product to the next step.
